The CPRP held a press briefing focusing on the alarming issue of extra-judicial killings by the Sri Lanka Police

Today, the Committee for the Protecting Rights of Prisoners held a press briefing focusing on the alarming issue of extra-judicial killings by the Sri Lanka Police where it was shown with examples the way in which extra-judicial killing has developed as a pattern in the country. Further, it was explained the judicial action being taken to bring justice for Samantha Prithikumara and Rajan Rajkumari who tragically lost their lives in police custody in 2023. Additionally, the press briefing shed light on the case of Sanjeeva Premakumara Silva who was fatally shot by the Police Special Task Force officers on 12.10.2023 and the killing of an individual during a firing incident on 16.10.2023 in the Sapugaskanda area.
